rodent prevention

Rodent prevention is a crucial aspect of maintaining hygiene and ensuring the overall wellbeing of our living spaces. Implementing effective rodent prevention measures requires a comprehensive understanding of these pesky creatures’ behaviour and habits but prevention is always key. Whether you don’t have pests and don’t want them or you’re living with pests and don’t want them back this advice can help.

Rats, Mice & Squirrels

Rodents can be sneaky little creatures, always on the lookout for a cozy place to call home. However, they are known for spreading diseases, contaminating food and causing damage to property.

We are skilled in providing proofing for identified entry points in your house, garages & outbuildings. We often carry out proofing works alongside a treatment plan to get to the bottom of your pest problem.

Maintaining good hygiene is crucial. Dispose of rubbish promptly in sealed bins, both inside and outside the house. Rodents are attracted to the smell of food waste, so keeping it well-contained will reduce their interest in paying you a visit.

Keep living spaces clean and tidy as rodents love cluttered areas that provide ample hiding spots. Likewise, proper food storage with sturdy containers and tight-fitting lids for storing dry goods such as cereals, grains, and pet food are a must. By denying rodents easy access to their favourite snacks, you make your home less enticing.

Keep tree branches trimmed away from your house. Squirrels are agile climbers and can easily jump onto rooftops from nearby trees. By keeping branches at least six feet away from your house, you reduce the chances of them finding their way inside. With squirrels in mind, consider installing squirrel-proof bird feeders in your garden. These feeders have mechanisms that close off access to food when heavier animals like squirrels try to get in. This will discourage them from visiting your property altogether.

If your preventative measures aren’t working and you need more help, or you have an infestation already, do get in touch.

moles

Moles can be quite a nuisance when it comes to maintaining a beautiful garden. These small mammals are expert diggers and can quickly turn your lush green lawn into a lumpy mess of molehills.

One effective method to discourage the excess tunnelling is to install physical barriers such as underground fences or mesh wire around the perimeter of your garden. This will discourage moles from entering and burrowing underground.

Another option is to use natural deterrents like castor oil or garlic-based sprays. Moles dislike the strong scent of these substances, so applying them regularly on the surface of your lawn can help keep them at bay.

Additionally, keeping your garden well-maintained and free from excess moisture and grubs can make it less appealing for moles. Regularly mowing the grass, removing fallen leaves, and addressing any drainage issues will create an environment that moles find less attractive.

If you’re not having any luck getting rid of your moles or you’d like help with any of these prevention measures do get in touch.
